In Germany, where the common technique has always been dubbing, subtitles are however becoming more and more popular. The present article will deal with the application possibilities of subtitles in audiovisual translation with reference to humoristic elements. Šis pētījums ir solis ilgstošā darbā, un tas sniedz ieskatu joku analīzē Britu situāсiju komēdijās un priekšlikumus tālākiem pētījumiem humora izpētes jomā. Darba mērķis ir īstenot joku analīzi divās situāсiju komēdijās. Pētījumā izmantotā metodoloģija balstās galvenokārt uz Vispārējo Verbālā Humora Teoriju, kas saskaņā ar tās autoriem ir piemērojama jebkura veida tekstiem. Tämä tutkielma käsittelee verbaalisen huumorin kääntämistä sarjakuvissa ja sen aiheuttamia haasteita kääntäjille. Tutkielma keskittyy Mikki Hiiri -sanomalehtisarjakuviin, joiden alkuperäisiä, englanninkielisiä versioita ja suomenkielisiä käännöksiä vertasin. Tavoitteena oli selvittää, mitkä aineistossa esiintyvät verbaalisen huumorin muodot ovat erityisen haastavia mahdollisimman tarkan ja lähdetekstille uskollisen kääntämisen näkökulmasta, ja millaisia käännöstekniikoita suomalaiset kääntäjät näissä tilanteissa käyttivät. Gilmoren tytöt on amerikkalainen televisiosarja, joka seuraa 32-vuotiaan äidin ja 16-vuotiaan tyttären elämää fiktiivisessä Stars Hollow’n pikkukaupungissa Connecticutissa seitsemän vuoden ajan. Tämän kandidaatintutkielman tarkoituksena on selvittää, miten Gilmoren tyttöjen verbaalinen huumori rakentuu. Gilmoren tytöt tunnetaan vahvojen naishahmojensa ja feministisyytensä lisäksi myös eläväisestä, terävästä dialogistaan. Aineistoni keskittyy sarjan neljään ensimmäiseen tuotantokauteen, joita yleisesti pidetään dialogiltaan ja huumoriltaan raikkaimpina. Kultakin kaudelta valittiin vapaasti aineistoon yksi jakso.
